The Lee MacLellan Family Story
Angus's First Wife, and Lee MacLellan's Mother
Lee Leslie MacLellan (in some sources his middle name was Lesley) was one of the five children of Angus's children from his first wife, Sara (or Sarah) Roger Stull. Two brothers were older: Ferd and Alden. He was only two when his mother died. He had no recollection of her and he rarely saw his father. You could say that he learned self-reliance at an early age.
Sara's family were of Dutch descent. Her father was a tory, a sympathizer of the British cause during the American revolutionary war.
It is likely that Angus met Sara Roger Stull when both families were farming near Glasston, ND. She married Angus in 1889, when she was 22. She had 5 children in 7 years, dying when she was just 29. Her death came just 6 days after the birth of her son Samuel.

Angus and Sara wedding and reception announcement(apparently someone traced over the original writing) Reads as follows:
Mr. A.D. MacLellan and Miss Sara Stull Married December 31, 1889 Glasston North Dakota
At home on January 1, 1890 in Maynard Minnesota (Maynard is a city 117 miles west of Minneapolis. Why they had the reception there is unknown)
The cause of death was probably some kind of septicemia following childbirth. Septicemia is a virulent bacterial infection also known as blood poisoning. It wasn't until 18 years later that science first discovered how germs could cause the bacterial infections that led to septicemia.
Sara Roger Stull. Date, age, and location where the picture was taken are all unknown. Perhaps because of her short hair she was younger at the time. Her family lived in Teeswater, Bruce, Ontario. In 1881 she was 14 years old, so this picture may have been taken then.
Sara is buried in Glasston, ND, along with her young son Sammy. As far as I know they are the only MacLellans buried in North Dakota.
