Janet MacLellan Clark

Janet MacLellan Clark (1926 - 2108) was my mother and the youngest child of Lee and Irma MacLellan. She looked up to both of her sisters, but was especially close to her next older sister Sally.

Janet followed Sally to Swarthmore College, in PA, where she met her future husband Edward Mansfield Clark. She graduated a year ahead of my father, and they were married in that in-between year, 1948. I was born in 1949.

The three sisters lived in the south (Priscilla), Maryland (Sally), and in the north (Janet). A classic family video of a MacLellan vacation shows my cousin John Foster, his brother Lee, and me. We took a rowboat out on Lake Champlain VT, and then rowed ashore, got out, and saluted the Confederate flag. Only problem was I was saluting with my left hand. I was the Northerner.
